Up for auction this week is a .308 Winchester caliber Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle. Ruger’s records reflect this rifle was roll marked August 18, 2023. This distributor exclusive model was introduced in 2015 and is a current production model. It was a Ruger Sales & Marketing photography sample, was never sold and has never been fired beyond normal factory test firing.   The Gunsite Scout Rifle has a matte stainless finish and features a 16.1-inch free-floating, cold hammer-forged stainless steel barrel with integral scope mounts (machined directly on the solid-steel receiver) and a flash suppressor. Other features include: a forward-mounted Picatinny rail for “both eyes open” sighting and rapid target acquisition; a built-in, accurate sighting system with adjustable ghost ring rear aperture sight and a non-glare, protected blade front sight. The stock is made of American walnut and has a soft-rubber buttpad with buttpad spacers that allows the rifle to be properly sized for different shooters or varying levels of outerwear (three, 1/2″ spacers included). The stock also features wrap-around cut checkering on the forearm and pistol grip as well as the Gunsite logo on the bottom of the pistol grip. Additionally, this rifle has a non-rotating, Mauser-type controlled round feed extractor; three-position safety; stainless steel bolt; and sling swivels. The detachable AI-style magazine holds ten cartridges. The rifle will ship in its original rifle box along with the original instruction manual, marketing materials, two 10-round magazines, thread protector, scope rings, and locking device. The Ruger Gunsite Scout Rifle is being sold “as is.” The purchaser assumes all liability for its safe and proper ownership, storage, use, and resale. It is a part of the Ruger factory collection in Southport, Connecticut and a Certificate of Authenticity will be mailed to the winner of the auction. The acquisition, ownership, possession and use of firearms are heavily regulated. Some models may not be legally available in your state or locale. Whatever your purpose for lawfully acquiring a firearm – know the law, get trained and shoot safely.
